• Meet the Coach!

     

    Hello, my name is Jeff Spera.  My students call me Coach Spera.  My family and I moved to Cumming, Georgia in 2005 from Weston (Fort Lauderdale), Florida.  It is cold up here! I grew up in Pennington, New Jersey (near Princeton). 
     
    I have two awesome children-Kelly and Ian. My wife is the Media Specialist at Lakeside Middle School in Forsyth. 
     
    One of my passions in life is scuba diving.  When I was in a rock quarry in Bainbridge, Pennsylvania, snow started to fall before one of our dives.  We were huddled in an abandoned dynamite shack, drinking hot chocolate, and shivering from the cold.  Diving in cold water was for penguins!  I knew right then that I had to change venues.
     
    So, I headed south to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for some sun, fun, and plenty of wreck diving!  I became a PADI Scuba Instructor.  I taught all types of people how to scuba dive and I loved every minute of it.  It was after one year as a "scu-bum" that I went into the public school system (Miami-Dade County Schools). After 8 years in the Miami-Dade School System, and 2 years in the Broward County School System, I headed north with my family to Georgia in the summer of 2005!
     
    I taught PE at Settles Bridge Elementary, Sharon Elementary, and Whitlow Elementary. I enjoy working with my students at Chattahoochee Elementary.
