Basic Agriculture (8th Grade, Year Long Option): Basic Agriculture is a year-long agriculture class offered to 8^th graders that have had an agriculture class in 6^th and/or 7th grade.  It is based on high school standards, but is not offered for high school credit.  Units include but aren’t limited to FFA, Livestock, Plant Science, Land Judging, Soil Quality, Employability Skills, Supervised Agricultural Experience, and Agriculture’s Effects on Society.  A link to the course standards can be found here.  All students enrolled will be members of the LMS FFA and given the opportunity to compete in various Career Development Events and Leadership Development Events.  It is highly recommended that any 8^th grade LMS FFA Officers be enrolled in Basic Ag.  Any questions about the course can be directed to Brooke Hollingsworth at bhollingsworth@forsyth.k12.ga.us or 770-781-4889 ext 290525. 

Course Overview:

Exploring Agriculture classes are a 9 week class.  Basic Agriculture is a year-long class available to interested 8th graders.  All agriculture classes analyze the different aspects of the agricultural industry. The class will cover a wide range of topics within agriculture and focus on the importance of agriculture in our daily lives. The information in this course will be given through teacher presentations and note-taking, group and individual projects, in class presentations by students, and hands-on activities.
