Scoliosis Screenings
Forsyth County Schools conducts scoliosis screenings on 6th and 8th grade students per Georgia state requirement. Scoliosis is a sideways curve of the spine and is most noticeable between the ages of 9 and 16 years of age, when growth occurs rapidly. Early detection of scoliosis is important for successful treatment. These screenings are conducted at the students' middle school with the school nurse, trained staff and/or community health partners.
Parents/guardians can choose not to have their student screened by completing the FCS refusal form, the GA 4400 Form or by refusing electronically through their child’s Parent Portal account.
Please find the attached resources along with several options for opting your child out of these screenings. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s school nurse.
