The media production and film industry in the Peach State is booming!

According to Georgia.org, "With its temperate climate, great variety of locations, the world's busiest airport (Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport), large crew base, and pro-business focus, Georgia is now a leading destination in the world of media production and filming."

Georgia has been home to various projects, such as feature films, television, movies, reality shows and television series. With that each year, the media production and film industry brings in over $5 billion to Georgia's economy!

So, from the growing media production and film industry along with the only high school Film Academy in the country, at Central Film Academy, right across the street from us, we have a unique opportunity to have an A/V Broadcast & Film Connection here at Otwell Middle School!

Exploring A/V Broadcast & Film Course Description: In this hands-on course, students dive into the world of audio/video production, broadcast journalism, podcasting, and digital storytelling. Whether it’s anchoring our weekly school news show, editing a student-led video podcast, or producing short films and interviews, students learn by doing—on real projects, with real impact! Throughout the year, students will:

• Develop media skills using industry-standard equipment and editing tools
• Write scripts, plan productions, and lead filming sessions
• Collaborate in studio teams to create content for Sic ’Em Studios (SES)
• Launch their own podcasts, cover campus events, and build creative confidence
• Explore careers in film, broadcast, journalism, and digital media
• Share their voice and ideas with the Otwell community and beyond

This course is more than just learning media—it's about creating it!
No experience needed—just creativity, collaboration, and a passion for storytelling!

Bulldawgs Unleashed 

Where it all began! The Bulldawgs Unleashed podcast started in the Fall of 2022 with myself and Otwell Middle School's Educational Technology Coach David Miller. Listeners are given a weekly glimpse into the staff, students, and our Otwell community.

Bulldawgs Unleashed is also home to the FIRST and ONLY Video Podcast in Forsyth County Schools history!
