• Emergency Response to Life Threatening Asthma, Anaphylaxis (Severe Allergic Reactions) or Suspected Opioid Overdose

Forsyth County Schools partners with District II Department of Public Health and has implemented a program to treat life-threatening asthma, systemic allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) or opioid overdose.  FCS clinics have Benadryl, epinephrine injections (EpiPen), nebulized bronchodilator (Albuterol), or naloxone (Narcan) in order to treat life-threatening symptoms for any student, staff or visitor.

FCS employees are trained to assess the clinical signs and proper administration of these medications.  If epinephrine injections (EpiPen), nebulized bronchodilator (Albuterol), or naloxone (Narcan) are administered, then emergency services are dispatched.  The person should be transported to the nearest emergency room for evaluation and treatment.
