Comprehensive Counseling Services
The goal of the Mashburn Elementary comprehensive school counseling program is to increase the learning and achievement of all students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Our program design and delivery system focuses on enhancing educational opportunities through the elements of a school counseling curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services, and system support. This counseling program embraces the three domains of academic development, personal/social growth, and career development.
- School Counseling Curriculum- guidance lessons or activities to promote knowledge, attitudes, and skills in three content areas: academic achievement, career development, and personal/social growth. The lessons include classroom guidance, group activities, and parent workshops and instruction.
- Individual Student Planning- activities designed to assist students to establish personal goals and develop their future, which include appraisals, individual and small group advice.
- Responsive Services- activities that meet students' immediate needs and concerns, such as consultation, individual and small group counseling, crisis counseling, and referrals to outside agencies for support.
- System Support- activities that enhance the school counseling program and support the school. The activities include professional development, consultation and collaboration, and program management and operations.
