Our health attendance guidelines were developed per recommendations,

from both the CDC and CHOA.  

*Temperature of 100.4'F or greater.  Student must be at least 24 hours fever free WITHOUT use of medication during that 24 hour period to be able to return to school. 

*Vomiting.  Student must be free of vomiting, without use of medication, for at least 24 hours prior to returning to school.

*Diarrhea. Student must be free of diarhhea, without use of medication, for at least 24 hours prior to returning to school.

*Persistent Cough. Keep him/her at home. If he/she has a hard time breathing or has a fever, call your healthcare provider.

*Sore Throat.-If your child has a sore throat and fever, or a severe sore throat without fever, he/she should stay home from school.  Call your healthcare provider if there is a quick onset of fever and sore throat without cold symptoms.  

(If your child is diagnosed with Strep Throat, they must be on precribed medication for at least 24 hours prior to returning to school. Also notify the teacher and school nurse.)

*Flu-If your child complains of body aches, has fever, dry cough and is tired, consult MD right away.  If your child is diagnosed with the Flu early enough, the MD may treat with anti-viral medication.  Please notify the school nurse and the teacher, and if you can let us know the type/strain, that is also helpful.  Child may not return until they have been at least 24 hours free of fever and or vomiting and or diarrhea and or significant reduction of cough, and the MD has cleared your child to return via note. 

*Pinkeye/Conjunctivitis-If your child's eye is red with cloudy or yellow drainage, He/she should be seen by a Doctor for evaluation.  IF placed on medication, they must be on the medication for at least 24 hours unless an MD note states otherwise.  Also, please inform both teacher and school nurse.

*Persistent Ear Pain-If your child complains of significant ear pain, consult your MD.

*Stomach ache - If your child complains of a stomache and and says it hurts to move and does not want to eat, keep child home from school and call their MD.

*Unusual Rash-  If your child exhibits an unusual rash, contact their MD for evaluation.

PLEASE NOTE:  The school nurse will call if your child exhibits any of the above.  Please note that the nurse cannot diagnose, and therefore, may suggest your take your child for medical evaluation.
