The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is a state-funded instructional program designed to serve students in kindergarten through fifth grade who are at risk of not reaching or maintaining their academic grade level based on performance on state or national assessments or other performance measures in English Language Arts/Reading, Mathematics, or both. The goal is to help students meet grade-level expectations within the shortest possible time.
In Forsyth County Schools, EIP provides targeted support through evidence-based practices, a standards-based curriculum, and a collaborative approach involving educators, parents, and administrators. EIP teachers work closely with students to deliver additional instruction in core subjects such as reading and math, utilizing technology and other educational resources to make learning both engaging and effective. The program follows a data-driven model, with student progress monitored continuously and instructional strategies adjusted to address each learner’s specific needs.
In alignment with EIP State Guidelines, instruction provided through the Early Intervention Program is intended to supplement, not replace, core classroom instruction. Students continue to receive their primary reading and math instruction within the general education setting, while EIP services offer additional support to reinforce and enhance their learning.
