    Eligibility Requirements for Teacher of the Year:

    Classroom teachers in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 are eligible for FCS' TOTY. This includes special education, physical education, art and music teachers, ROTC and media specialists. Counselors and speech pathologists are not eligible for the state or national TOTY programs, but they are recognized in separate programs. Candidates for the FCS TOTY should have three or more years of experience, have a full-time teaching position and spend the majority (defined as spending at least 50% of contract time) of their time teaching students in a classroom setting. Supervisory and administrative responsibilities should be of secondary consideration. Click here for all Georgia Teacher of the Year guidelines.
     
    Candidates for Forsyth County's Teacher of the Year program should be an exceptionally dedicated, knowledgeable, and skilled teacher who:
    • plans to continue in active teaching status
    • inspires students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn
    • possesses the respect and admiration of students, parents, and colleagues
    • plays an active and useful role in the community as well as in the school; and
    • is poised and articulate
