I am so excited to be starting my second year in Forsyth County and at Kelly Mill. This is my 24th year in education and my 20th year as a school counselor. I have a background in social work and upon entering the world of education I spent 2 years as an instructional assistant in an EBI classroom setting. I earned my Bachelor degree in social work from Valdosta State University, my Masters degree in counseling from University of West Georgia, and am currently working on my Specialist degree in school counseling at Valdosta State. This year I will again primarily be serving the kindergarten, first, and second grade students and Mr. Burbrink will continue serving the third, fourth, and fifth grade. However, we are both here to support each and every student. I am passionate about being a safe, supportive, and encouraging presence in children's lives. It is my heart's desire to help children recognize and believe in their individual potential to do uniquely amazing things. I will be going into the k-2 classrooms monthly to teach lessons as well as conducting small groups, seeing students for individual counseling sessions, supporting teachers with student behaviors, co-leading the 5th grade ambassador program, and co-facilitating the 7 Mindsets program, and more. I feel so blessed to be part of this special place called Kelly Mill Elementary and I look forward to this 2024-25 school year!
A little about me personally: I am a "born and raised Georgia girl!" I have true southern roots too, because my mom is from Mississippi and my dad is from West Virginia coal mine country. He raised a true, patriotic, American girl. I love the USA. I have a daughter, Jordan, who is a senior at UGA this year! GO DAWGS! I have a Maine Coon cat named Skitty who loves to talk to me in meow-ese. When I have spare time I love to travel, learn different cultures, try new foods, see new places, experience new things. I also love to do DIY projects, decorating projects, hike, go for walks, 5k's and 10k's, read, listen to podcasts, watch movies or documentaries, enjoy live music, go out to eat, or hang out and just spend quality time with family and friends.

I am so excited to be starting my 11th year at Kelly Mill as a school counselor. This year, I will primarily be serving grades 3-5. My role at Kelly Mill as a counselor is to support you and help you work through any problems or challenges you might be facing so that you can be successful and realize your full potential both in and out of school. I will see each of you in your classroom during our monthly counseling lessons, while I will work with some of you individually or in small groups. Even if things are going well and you just have something special to share, stop by and say hello! I’m looking forward to a great year!
About Me: I am originally from Lorton, Virginia, right outside of our nation's capital, Washington D.C. I graduated from Virginia Tech in 2007, where I studied Sociology and Psychology. Go Hokies! I subsequently attended George Washington University where I earned my master's degree in Education and Human Development with a concentration in School Counseling in 2009. I'm currently back in school earning a specialist degree in education (Ed.S). This will be my 16th year as an elementary school counselor. I currently live in Atlanta with my wife, Rebecca, and son, Landon, who is 19-months-old as of the start of the school year. In my free time, I love photography and videography, playing and recording music, watching movies, hiking, and traveling.
