7th Grade Social StudiesStudents focus on four domains as they study Asia (separated into the Middle East and South and East Asia) and Africa. These domains are: geography, government, economics, and history. The Geography domain includes topics like maps, ethnic and religious groups, and environmental issues. The Government domain includes different political systems in the region, the role of citizens in terms of voting, and the role of citizens in terms of personal freedoms. The Economics domain includes different economic systems found in the region and how they operate, standard of living, and factors contributing to economic growth. Finally, the History domain focuses on topics from the 19th and 20th centuries; these include: the impacts of the fall of the Ottoman Empire, the creation of the State of Israel, the impacts of communism on China, and the end of the apartheid system in South Africa.In addition, seventh grade students have a Junior Achievement unit focused on personal finance.
