Mileage Club Q&A
As part of the Chattahoochee Elementary Strong for Life Health and Wellness program,
the PE department is excited to be offering a new running club called Mileage Club.Q: What is Mileage Club?
A: Mileage Club is a free club that allows students to run laps, to set goals, and to be rewarded with tokens for reaching pre-set milestones. The program piggybacks on the widespread research on physical activity and academics. Research tells us that physical activity increases learning readiness, fights childhood obesity, increases oxygen to the brain, and promotes lifelong health.
Q: Who can join the Mileage Club?
A: Any student in grades 2-5 can sign up and join Mileage Club. As the program unfolds, we may add to the program.
Q: When will Mileage Club meet?
A: Mileage Club kicks off in the second week of September. Mileage Club meets each morning from 7:15 – 7:35 am in the gym. A breakfast bell will let the students know when to go to the cafeteria to eat.
2nd & 3rd Grade
4th & 5th Grade
Wednesdays & Fridays
Tuesdays & Thursdays
Q: How will students track their progress?
A: Mileage Club will be using a software program called EZ Scan. This will allow our students to scan their barcode each time they complete their lap. EZ Scan can be downloaded to multiple devices so that students can scan without a backup. The software will organize and help students reach the milestones pre-set by the teacher. Students will receive tokens when they come to Mileage Club.
Q: What do students need to bring to Mileage Club?
A: Students will need to fill out the Mileage Club form and return it to Coach Spera/Coach Savage. Students who are not wearing proper running shoes will not be allowed to participate in the Mileage Club. Comfortable clothing and proper running shoes (sneakers) must be worn. Students can bring a water bottle to stay hydrated – water only!
