• Personal Fitness

    Students will be instructed in methods to attain a healthy level of physical fitness and will implement a lifetime fitness program based on a personal fitness assessment, stressing strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, body composition, and cardiovascular endurance.  This includes instruction in fitness principles, nutrition, fad diets, weight control, stress management, adherence strategies, and consumer information.  We will also promote self-awareness and responsibility for fitness.

    Health

    Students will explore the physical, mental, and social aspects of life and how each contributes to total health and well-being.  The course will emphasize nutrition, safety, mental/emotional health, substance abuse prevention, disease prevention, environmental health, family life education, and consumer/community health.  Students will acquire basic personal health concepts that help maintain healthy behaviors and prevent disease.  Students will demonstrate patterns of healthy behaviors to prevent or reduce the risk of injury and/or illness throughout their lifespan.  Students will describe the interrelationships of emotional, physical, social, and intellectual health and how each aspect of health can be impacted by their surroundings.

    Advanced Personal Fitness

    Students will apply methods of advanced instruction to attain a healthy level of physical fitness. Students will also implement a lifetime fitness program based on a personal fitness assessment focused on strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, body composition, and cardiovascular endurance. Students will use advanced fitness instruction in principles and nutritional concepts introduced in Personal Fitness.

    General PE 1

    Students will focus on any combination or variety of team sports, lifetime sports, outdoor education experiences, rhythmic/dance, and recreational games, as well as be provided basic methods to attain a healthy and active lifestyle.
