Coal Mountain Running Club
Are you ready to Get Fit and Have Fun? We are!
The Coal Mountain Running Club is a year-long club that allows students to run/walk laps, set goals, and be rewarded with tokens for reaching pre-set milestones. This club piggybacks on the widespread research conducted on physical activity and academics. Research tells us that physical activity increases learning readiness, fights childhood obesity, increases oxygen to the brain, and promotes lifelong health.
The Coal Mountain Running Club is open to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Students will have the opportunity to experience fitness and TRUE personal success by running (or walking) 4 mornings each week throughout the year. This is a wonderful time to get fit, get some energy out before classes start, and make new friends!
Coal Mountain Running Club members meet at the track anytime between 7:10 -7:35 a.m. to run/walk. Once students arrive at school, they check in with their teacher, drop off their backpack, and then go to the track to run. Members will receive a LaceLink lanyard to put their token charms on when they complete each milestone. A different token charm will be earned upon reaching each of the following Mile Milestones: 1, 5, 10,13.1, 20, 26.2, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100. Token charms are a fun way for members to celebrate and show off their accomplishments.
