    Advanced Courses

Advanced classes allow for a more in-depth learning of the concepts which requires students to show their mastery through the application of the required skills. These courses are taught above and beyond the standards required for each grade to prepare students for honors level and AP classes in high school.   In order to master this additional content, the course is fast-paced.

    • Advanced 6th Grade Math: In this course, students master all of the 6th grade standards and some specifically chosen 7th grade standards. In addition to the standards required for this course, students in these classes will master the 7th grade Rational Numbers and Proportions standards.

    6th Grade Standards

    • Advanced 7th grade Math: In this course, students master all of the 7th grade standards and some specifically chosen 8th grade standards. In addition to the standards required for this course, students in these classes will master the 8th grade Exponent, Scientific Notation, Pythagorean Theorem and Linear Equation standards.

    7th Grade Standards

    • Algebra 1:  In this course, students master any 8th grade standards not already covered that are necessary for success in Algebra I.  Students also learn all Algebra I content in-depth as well as additional material above and beyond the Algebra I standards.   The expected path for these students is to take Geometry or Honors Geometry as freshmen. A few high achieving and very motivated students may elect to take both Honors Geometry and Honors Algebra II as freshmen.

    Accelerated Courses

Accelerated classes are also in-depth and require application of skills; however due to the large amount of additional material, they are very fast-paced and require students to be independent learners.  These courses are taught above and beyond the state standards to ensure that our students are prepared for honors level and AP classes in high school.

    • Accelerated 6th Grade Math: In this course, students master all of the 6th standards and the first semester of the 7th Grade standards.

    Accelerated 6th Grade Standards

    • Accelerated 7th Grade Math: In this course, students master the second half of 7th grade standards and all of the 8th grade standards.

    Accelerated 7th Grade Standards

    • Accelerated Algebra 1: In this course, students master all of the Algebra I standards as well as the first semester of Honors Geometry Standards.  The expected path for these students is to take Accelerated Algebra II/Geometry B Honors as freshmen.
