Late Check-In:
If your Student checks in late, please send a note with your student listing their:
- Student First and Last Name
- Student ID
- Date/Time absent or checked in
- Reason
- Parent signature
- They will also need to check in on the front office laptops.
Please note: All checkouts for Doctor, Court, etc. are UNEXCUSED until we receive a note from the doctor or other legal documents. Students have up to 5 school days to bring in the notes. The attendance box is located in the counseling office. Please check in Parent Portal to verify that your excuse has been received.
Absences & Tardies:
Will ONLY be excused for the following reasons:
· Personally ill
· Serious illness or death in the immediate family
· Medical or dental exams
· Mandated by a governmental agency
· Observation of a religious holiday (Please reference the Forsyth Co BOE website for approved dates)
· Unsafe weather conditions
· Registering to vote or voting
· Visiting a legal guardian who had been called to duty (up to 5 days)Absences & Tardies WILL NOT be excused for the following reasons:
· Waking up late / Broken alarm clock
· Car problems
· Missing the bus
· Finishing homework or project
· Babysitting
· Unexplained family emergencies
· Etc.NOTE: Absence notes/excuses must be received within 5 school days by email, parent note, or fax. Please note that phone calls will not suffice.
**Please be aware that 5 unexcused absences will result in a letter home. 8 or more unexcused absences will be referred to the Social Worker and possible truancy referrals could be made.
Checkout:
- Parents will need to sign their student out on the front office laptops.
- A note will need to be provided to excuse your student.
- Absences through the clinic are not excused unless approved by Nurse Brenda. Parents will need to provide a note if their student is leaving school for an illness.
Beginning of Year Absences:
If your student will be missing the first day of school, please email Ms. Hayworth. Per county guidelines, if a student is absent on the first day of school for an unknown reason, your student will be withdrawn. If your student returns within 10 days, RMS can re-enroll your student. If your student returns after 10 days, you will have to send a current utility bill to Ms. Hayworth. After September 1st, you will have to re-register your student at the Hill Center.
