Welcome

  • The Social Studies curriculum at Lakeside takes our students around the world to learn about the geography, history, government, and economics of different countries and cultures.

Each grade level integrates writing, evaluates primary and secondary sources of information, incorporates multimedia presentations, interprets graphs, utilizes map skills, and differentiates learning for the individual student.

In 8th grade, students will learn about Georgia Studies.

This year marks my 17th year teaching and 15th year in Forsyth County Schools. As a graduate of North Georgia College and Mercer Law School, I’ve had careers in both the Army National Guard as a military police officer and as an attorney. When I had the opportunity to transition to teaching, I was eager to make the change to a profession where I could make connections with up-and-coming generations. Georgia Studies is my passion, and I am fortunate to teach this subject to our 8th graders.  I look forward to sharing my diverse experiences with students as I bring a unique perspective to teaching.

I've been an 8th Grade Georgia Studies teacher at Lakeside since 2010. Before moving to middle school I was an elementary school teacher for 16 years, and taught every grade except Kindergarten. I hold a BSEd in Education and a MEd in Gifted Education from the University of Georgia. A native of Athens, I am a life-long UGA fan and LOVE college football! My husband, Jonathan, and I have two adult children – Davis and Jack. (Jack is a Lakeside alum) I also have a grandson named Dean who is the smartest and cutest child to ever draw breath, in my completely unbiased opinion.
