Hola! Bienvenidos!
-
8th Grade students can take a World Language course as their 5th academic course. Students have the option of taking one of the following courses:
French (fully through Forsyth Virtual Academy)
German (part in-person with a high school teacher, part through Forsyth Virtual Academy)
Spanish (fully in person)
Upon successful completion of the level 1 language course, students will earn one high school credit and can enroll in level II of their chosen language in high school. World Language level 1 courses are performance-based courses that focus on developing proficiency in listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Students will engage in a variety of activities, such as projects, short research assignments, group presentations, role-play, rehearsed dialogues, spontaneous conversation, skits, writing activities, reading comprehension activities, listening activities with songs and videos, and games.
Our goal as World Language teachers is to help instill in students the love of learning, an understanding of other cultures, and to open doors for them to be able to communicate with people all over the world.

¡Hola! My name is Maricela Eustice, and this will be my third year as a Spanish teacher at Lakeside MS and my twelfth year in FCS. I was born and raised in Mexico City, and my academic journey took me to the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), where I graduated with a BA in Computer Science and a BS in Accounting, to then work in the private sector in Mexico for over thirteen years. This summer, I proudly graduated with my master's in education & Online Learning from UNITEC Mexico. My husband and I have been proud residents of Forsyth since 2012, and we have two children, Angel & Valerie. I am deeply honored to be a part of the LAKE family and eagerly look forward to meeting our eighth-grade Spanish class.

Hola todos!
This will be my 25th year teaching Spanish. I earned my B.A. from the University of Georgia, and my M.ED., from La Universidad de Salamanca. I have taught in many different settings, from adults to pre-K to middle school. I have taught in private schools, charter schools, and public schools. I am extremely passionate about the Spanish language and different Hispanic cultures, and I owe this passion to my 9th grade high school Spanish teacher, Polly Stadnick. She believed in me, motivated me, and helped form my interest in all things Spanish. I too, would like to instill this passion for your kids as well. In my free time I love traveling with my husband and son (a rising 9th grader.) I am looking forward to an incredible year together.

¡Hola Lakeside! My name is Sarah Woods. I fell in love with Spanish as a high school student in Louisiana. I later earned my Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, and then solidified my desire to be a teacher while working in Guatemala. I moved to Georgia and completed a Master of Arts in Teaching at Emory. This will be my 15th year teaching and 10th year in Forsyth County Schools. I am excited to help introduce students to the Spanish language and Hispanic culture; I love helping students broaden their horizons through language! When I’m not working, I enjoy reading, being outside, and spending time with my husband and two young sons.
